Profile of Tokugawa Iehiro

Born in Tokyo in 1965. After graduating from Keio University, obtained a master's degree in economics from the University of Michigan, then worked at the FAO headquarters in Rome and the Hanoi branch. Later obtained a master's degree in political science from Columbia University in the United States. After returning to Japan at the end of 2000, worked as a freelance translator and political and economic commentator. Authored books include "Economics for Self-Protection" (Chikuma Shobo), and "Rereading Marx" (Chikuma Bunko). Translated works include "The Birth of Affluence" (Nikkei Business Publications), "The Great Quest" (two volumes, Shinchosha), "The Day America Chooses China" (Keiso Shobo), "Conditions for the Strongest Nation" and "Soros Issues a Warning" (Kodansha), among others.

Chairman of the Tokugawa Memorial Foundation, a public interest corporation, since June 2021.

Head of the 19th generation of the Tokugawa family since January 2023.

It is inspired by Mount Fuji, towering over Shizuoka, deeply associated with the Tokugawa, and the abundant water flowing from there.
